Project Types
Every project in Cherp has a type that reflects its scale and billing structure. The type affects how the project appears in lists, how it’s filtered, and how it’s treated in financial reporting.
The Five Types
Keystone
The big ones. Keystone projects are large-scale hospitality branding engagements — think designing the brand identity for a new hotel property. These are Cooper House’s signature work.
- Typically linked to a hotel in the Intel system
- The project detail page shows a Hotel Profile card
- Longest timelines, largest budgets
- Example: Designing the brand for a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel
Classic
Standard client projects. Classic projects are traditional branding engagements that don’t involve hospitality properties — corporate identities, rebrands, brand systems, and similar work.
- Straightforward project-to-deliverable structure
- Moderate timelines and budgets
- Example: Corporate rebrand for a tech company
Small Project
Quick-turn work. Small projects are shorter engagements with a defined scope — a logo refresh, a one-off deliverable, or a focused piece of creative work.
- Simpler scope, fewer deliverables
- Shorter timelines
- Example: Designing a menu for a restaurant opening
Retainer
Ongoing monthly engagements. Retainer projects have a recurring monthly hour allocation and billing amount. The client pays a fixed monthly fee and gets a set number of hours.
- Configured with monthly hours, monthly amount, and overage rate
- Unused hours can roll over (up to a configured max)
- Work is tracked through work items rather than traditional deliverables
- Example: Ongoing brand management for a hotel group at 20 hours/month
Internal
Cooper House’s own work. Internal projects track time spent on things like studio operations, marketing, business development, and this ERP itself.
- No client attached
- No financial tracking (budget is $0)
- Hidden from most project list views by default
- Example: Cooper House website redesign, studio operations
How Types Appear in the UI
On the Projects page, type filter pills let you quickly narrow the list:
- Each type has its own icon and color
- The count next to each pill shows how many projects of that type exist
- “All” shows everything
Choosing the Right Type
| If the project is… | Use |
|---|---|
| A hotel brand identity engagement | Keystone |
| A standard branding project for a client | Classic |
| A small, focused deliverable | Small Project |
| An ongoing monthly engagement | Retainer |
| Work for Cooper House itself | Internal |
Managers can change a project’s type at any time from the project edit page. You can also bulk-update types by selecting multiple projects on the Projects list.
