Roles & Permissions
What you can see and do in Cherp depends on your role. Your role is displayed under your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
Role Overview

| Accounting | Financial staff | Financial access — invoices, payroll, forecast (no project operations) |

Key Differences
Contractors have the most restricted access:
- Can only see projects they’ve been assigned to
- Cannot see Clients, Contacts, or most financial data
- Have a dedicated My Invoices page for submitting their own invoices
- Can access Intel (Hotels, Venues, Brands) for research purposes
Accounting role is designed for financial-only access:
- Can see Projects and Time (for financial context)
- Can see Forecast, Invoices, and Payroll Hours
- Cannot see Dashboard, Focus, Workload, or any People/Intel pages
Personal Mode (admins and PMs only):
- Hides Schedule, Prospects, Clients, and Contacts from the sidebar
- Defaults Projects to “My Projects” view
- Useful when you want to focus on your own work
- Toggle it in Settings
Data Permissions
Beyond sidebar visibility, roles also control what you can do with data:
- Editing projects — Managers and admins can edit all projects; employees can view but not edit
- Managing deliverables — Managers can create, reorder, and delete deliverables; employees can view
- Team management — Only managers and admins can add/edit team members
- Financial data — Budget details, invoice amounts, and profitability data require manager or accounting access
- Settings — Company-wide settings (templates, imports, company config) require manager access
